PSA about the iPad pro and pencil
My post in apple forums was ███REDACTED███.
Here's the full text of what I had to say about the ipad pro and pencil:
I just wanted to comment on this thread Wavy diagonal lines on IPad - Apple Community but it was closed by Apple staff.
Experiencing the exact same issue. Diagonal stair-stepping artefact. This is likely a design flaw on all ipad models going as far back as 2017 with the gen1 pencil, to the gen2 pencil on M1-M4 ipads.
The precision "grid" of pencil resolution/ sampling is far inferior than what is needed. The screen might be 3K but the resolution of the pencil feels closer to 1024x512. This is why it feels good to draw vertical and horizontal lines, while curves and diagonals look like █████. At low speed it jitters between multiple possible positions on a low resolution grid.
Artists gaslight each other into thinking there is no problem because it's Apple. Apple is either not listening or unwilling to acknowledge the issue, not willing to delaying production or losing stock market value, so here we are.
A product advertised as a "pro" solution for drawing and note taking delivers an experience inferior to wacom Movinkpad and even cheap samsung S pen on galaxy tab.
It's so bad that I drew a comic about it.
